The Emerald
isle.
By Tara Paterson
Alone in ye Fairydell
Let's step back in time and see what life was like
For a woman by the name Dianne.
"We're here off the boat in this great land."
The man and child aching, and not so glad.
"Come on you two we must get to the fields!
You're going to mine and we're going to make a home"
Off they go to get a horse and cart.
On their way to ye Fairydell.
"We're on our way ,I can't believe it."
The dry and barren land stretched far and wide.
All so hot and tired they think," why are we here, should we turn back?"
Hour by hour, minute by minute they get further inland.
As they get further inland, they see hundreds of trees, as green as can be.
Dianne thinks she's in her homeland, but no
.. she remembers.
Soon they hear many voices, they stop and realize their there.
Today Dianne's husband sets out to mine,
All day, all night, her husband never came home.
Some say he got lost , some say he stated a new life.
Dianne left ye Fairydell
With her little boy and returned to her homeland

Help!!
By Lissie Ratcliff
The elephant lying on the ground
Has no tusks to show.
The tiger dying in the grass
Shot for it's beautiful coat.
The cheetah skin hanging on the truck
Carcass lying near.
The parrots falling from the sky
Shot for a hunter's sport.
This is the fate our animals
If we do nothing help.

A Hot Summer Day
By Lissie Ratcliff
Running through the grass
Over the flat, dry plains.
Up a hill, down a gully,
Across a rushing stream.
Tails streaming backwards,
Flying in the wind.
Hiding in the scrub,
Wandering through the trees,
This is the life of a brumby,
On a hot summer day.

The Volcano
By Tara Paterson
The Volcano grumbles,
The Volcano groans,
The Volcano belches,
Its explosion of rocks wipes out,
2 villages or more.
Hot ash floats to the ground,
Boiling lava flows through the towns.
The lava slows,
And comes to a halt.
The ash ceases to float.
Soon the lava cools,
The ash settles,
And all is calm now,
For the Volcano is sleeping once more.
