Emerald is wonderful too!
What a great school!

On Saturday 8th of April, a small group of hardy invividuals from the Emerald Primary School community braved slippery rooftops and dark, creepy underfloor areas  to finalise  the three day installation of a major network upgrade to our school. Netday generously supplied  the materials and specialist installation from Desa.
By the end of the day more than 2 km of cable was installed,  tied up and fitted off...Well over 100 data points were installed throughout the school.
We hope you enjoy these photos of some of the action....p.s. "the thankyous" are at the bottom of this page, as is a background to Netday Victoria.

Netday Victoria Background
As the world approaches the twenty-first century, schools around the globe are preparing for the inevitable reality of utilising the Internet as a tool for learning, communication and daily life.

The NetDay concept has been used successfully in the United States of America to network and provide Internet access for many thousands of schools. It is the Department of Education's intention to build on this success.

In September 1997, NetDay Victoria , a major initiative of the Department of Education, was launched.

Objectives

  • To network, at no cost to schools, 4,000- 5,000 classrooms in government schools in Victoria.
  • To enhance the access to learning technologies and learning potential of students.
  • To build a foundation on which the use of future technologies in schools can be established.
