Rubbish and Recycling
Grades 3B, 3J, 4M 4F and 4V
Grades 3 and 4 have been doing rubbish and recycling as part of their curriculum. I have spoken to the grades and they have told me about what they have been doing.
Their studies included recycling and alternative packaging. They have studied rubbish and watched videos, taking notes. They have collected litter from the bins and counted it. Together they cleaned up the school and surrounds, including the oval and Puffing Billy track. Some grades continued their studies at home by basing their homework around it.
This is what the grades did:
3B: Ms Ballie learnt about recycling, did a compost bin, their sheets were double sided, some children put in an input at home, they did a Home Audit ( Homework) on how much rubbish was thrown away and recycled and they made paper.
3J Mrs Jackson: For 5 days they each had an allocated place in the school ground and after the bins were emptied they collected up the rubbish and counted it they ended up with about 2,000 pieces of rubbish.
4M: Mrs Mackenzie did projects, they collected up rubbish out of bins, recorded what they put in the bin at lunchtime, they wrote poems and did projects. They picked up and recycled.
4F Mrs Fernleigh Counted bins we collected and watched videos they also Tallied up their results. (Below)
