The Grade 3's and 4's have been learning about recycling and littering. 3J decided to collect all of the rubbish that did not make it into the bin.

For five days we went outside after lunch and tallied our results. This is what we collected:

106 chip wrappers

1,134 pieces of plastic

392 papers

202 lolly wrappers

122 sunny boy wrappers

80 fruit or muesli bar wrappers

153 pieces of glass

140 pieces of compost rubbish

and 427 "Other" pieces of rubbish such as tissues, foil and butts.

That makes a grand total of 2,756 pieces of litter in just 5 days.

We hope that everyone will make a bigger effort to put their litter in the bin!
