Lauren's Report

On Tuesday the 14th May 2002 Grades 5W and 4/5B went down to the Emerald R.S.L on Memorial Avenue!
Grade 5W gave the R.S.L a poster
made from our internet site about the RSL and the Memorial trees on Heroes Ave, the cutting of the
ribbon of Heroes Ave!

Inside the R.S.L we
were served some food
which was very nice and we also saw some stuff from the World Wars but mostly
from the Vietnam War!

We also met some Vietnam Veteran Association Education Officers, their names were Rob Lowe and Rob Edgell! (They put a link to us on their website too.)
Rob and Rob told us told that they didn't really used to talk about the Vietnam War because when they arrived back in Australia the Government and people said that they didn't want anything to do with the War. One of the Robs said that he had only just started bringing his medals out into the eyes of the public just this year!!! They told us lots about what is was like to be in the war.
We hope that the R.S.L enjoyed our visit because we certainly enjoyed going there!!!
