[1801-1839]

John Batman was born in Rose Hill Parramatta in N.S.W. , Australia on the 21st of the first 1801.He was the third son of William Batman who arrived in 1797 in the convict ship Garger. Batman moved to Tasmania were he bought a 240 hectare home , which later grow to 2800 hectares

In 1828 -1830 Batman won commendation of governer Arthur for wise caring of the Aborigines.

Batman travelled to Geelong on the 29th of may 1835 ,then Melbourne. He signed a treaty with seven aborigines which gave Batman 243,000 hectares in return for axes, blankets, sundry and other articles and yearly rent

Batman died in 6th of may 1839. He survived by 6 daughters and 1 son who drowned in 1845. There are monuments named after Batman, a railway station, a park and some streets.
